HISTORY OF FUEL:

FUEL Fall Retreat is an annual retreat at GCBC for 6th-12th grade students along the Gulf Coast. Most of the churches who participate in the Youth Area-Wide Devotionals bring groups to FUEL. FUEL is put on by the Gulf Coast youth ministers, and is directed by Mark Butts, Casey Bearden and Eric Gray.

This is FUEL’s 10th year! It was started by the area youth ministers as an opportunity for students to fellowship together, to talk about unity, evangelism, and love. Fellowship, Unity, Evangelism, Love — FUEL.

I have personally attended 6 of the last 9 years of FUEL, and it is one of my favorite weekends of the year. I love spending time with our students, area youth groups, and area youth ministers who I consider to be good friends. It is an awesome thing that our area has so much unity that 15 churches can participate together in a weekend retreat. There are not many areas around the southeast that are able to do that.

This year our theme for FUEL is called “Unfiltered”. We live in a world that seeks perfection. We feel the need to look and act perfect. Even on Instagram, we filter our pictures so they look better. But often times, that’s not the real us. We are pretending. And God can’t bless who we pretend to be.

So we want to be unfiltered. We want you to be the real you.

That’s our theme for the weekend, and I think it is going to be an awesome, uplifting & challenging experience.

By the way, we are getting long sleeve shirts for FUEL this year. And we are debuting a new, updated FUEL logo (pictured below).

It’s going to be a great weekend. I hope you’re registered.
